Context
One of our clients urgently needed an interview with an operator with experience with drilling equipment used for offshore exploration. A challenge completed in 48 hours.
4 October 2018. We received an urgent call from one of our clients. They needed to have an interview with an operator with experience with drilling equipment used for offshore exploration, and they needed it quickly. It was a formidable challenge because it was cutting-edge technology that hadn’t been used much… and we only had 48 hours to find our expert. It was a race against time that started out with searches for contacts throughout Angola, then Alaska, then the Gulf of Mexico.
Proposal
We found our expert on a platform out on the Caspian Sea. He agreed to do the consultancy job but pulled out ten hours later. He had never taken on this kind of consultancy project, and he didn’t want to do it without some reassurance about Xperts Council, which he’d never heard of before. We only had 6 hours left, and we couldn’t find anyone as well-qualified as him to help out our client.
Then, we had the idea to get in touch with an old naval officer who we had worked with, who actually worked for a large security firm that was in charge of protecting many platforms... Including the one where our expert worked. On a phone call, he managed to reassure our expert on ethical approach and strong moral principles. Mission accomplished: the interview was scheduled.
